The Steps You Need to Take in Order to Become a Government Contractor
|
We don't know how many sites you've searched for information about becoming a government contractor. Well, we wish to shed some light on the subject. Let this information serve as a guide or even an eye- opener to the government contracting arena.
First, understand what you are getting into. As previously stated, the federal government has many rules and regulations. They even have a book that covers all of their rule and regs. It's the Federal Acquisitions Regulation or the FAR as it's called for short. All branches of the federal government use this book when it comes to the contracting process. This book ( as thick as it is, it should be called a phone book) is used to ease or so-called "simplify" the contracting process. When you first peek into the FAR you almost immediately notice how structured it is, which is a good thing.
Can you imagine if every branch of the government had a different set of rules to follow regarding contracting? Wow! Talk about the blind leading the blind. The FAR is a boiler plate for contracting officers to churn out contracts and their requirements. It is virtually humanly impossible for anyone to learn the entire FAR, yes, even impossible for the analytical individuals. It's constantly being updated, revised, and abridged ( and it still has over one thousand pages). Sometimes we think it should have bee written in pencil because it constantly changes. Basically, what you need to do is familiarize yourself with the part of the FAR that applies to you. In other words, take it one section at a time--as you need it--when you need it.
Now, with a little information about the FAR out of the way, you are now ready to proceed to the next step. >>>Read On
